Cyclist Track Days 2025 bikes #8: Specialized Tarmac SL8
Whether you’re in the market for a new bike or you just want to try out some of the world’s very best, Cyclist Track Days offer a unique experience to test the latest top-end bikes from the leading brands on the market.
Next up in our run-through of some of the incredible bikes that you can test ride at this years Track Days is the Specialized Tarmac SL8, which will be exclusively at our London event courtesy of Balfe’s Bikes.
One of the most popular bikes in the world, the SL8 is ridden by the Soudal-QuickStep, Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe, SD Worx-Protime and FDJ-Suez pro teams and is Specialized’s all-round road race bike.
Cyclist tech editor Sam Challis reviewed the bike on release in 2023 and said it was one of the best in class with its light weight and reactive acceleration (more on the bike’s history here).
Sam tested the S-Works build with a Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 groupset and Roval Rapide CLX II wheels, which came out to a total weight of just 6.6kg in a size 56. The build that Balfe’s Bikes is bringing to Cyclist Track Days this year is the Specialized Tarmac SL8 Pro, which comes with a Shimano Ultegra Di2 groupset and Roval Rapide CL II wheels. That spec retails for £8,250 and is said to weigh 7.16kg in a size 56.
You can read Sam’s full review here.
The Specialized Tarmac SL8 will be at the following Track Days event:
17th May 2025, Lee Valley VeloPark London,
