How to watch Milan-San Remo 2025

Milan-San Remo is the first Monument of the season and called ‘La Primavera’ (The Spring Classic) due to its early positioning in the cycling calendar. This year’s edition will be the 116th for the men, over a distance of 289km and there will also be the return of the women’s Milan-San Remo, which will be 156km. Both races will take place on Saturday 22nd March.

The men and women will all ride the Tre Capi (Capo Mele, Capo Cervo and Capo Berta) in the final section, followed by the Cipressa and Poggio di San Remo at the business end. Jasper Philipsen won the last edition for the men – which was the fastest in the race’s history – ahead of Michael Matthews and Tadej Pogačar.

Eddy Merckx is the most successful rider at the men’s Milan-San Remo, winning seven times. When the previous women’s Milan-San Remo took place between 1999 and 2005, Zulfiya Zabirova was the most successful with two victories.

A stacked peloton of contenders will be taking to the start lines including defending champion Philipsen and teammate Mathieu van der Poel, world champion Pogačar, Filippo Ganna and Jonathan Milan. For the women, the favourites are SD Worx-Protime who will have both Lotte Kopecky and Lorena Wiebes, but they’ll be challenged by Demi Vollering, Elisa Balsamo and Marianne Vos among many others hoping to take this historic victory.
