Fizik releases its first helmets, including two road, one TT and one MTB
Fizik has for the first time added helmets to its range of products, including the vented Kudo and the aero Kudo Aero road/gravel cycling helmets.
The two road helmets are part of a four helmet range, which also includes a time trial and an MTB helmet. Both helmets have a claimed weight from 270g for a size S in the EU and both are priced at £269.99.
Fit a range of head shapes

All four helmets share a common design for the large rear vent, where Fizik says it has employed the Venturi effect to accelerate the airflow through the helmet and help to cool the rider’s head. In the Kudo Aero, there’s an additional snap-off spoiler above the vent to streamline the flow.
Fizik has wind-tunnel-tested its helmets with a head form with temperature sensors to prove efficient cooling. In the Kudo Aero, air inlets are included at the brow to channel air into the helmet, while the Kudo vented helmet adds vents at the temples and over the crown of the head.

Although Fizik hasn’t provided its full testing results, it claims that the Kudo Aero’s more enclosed design makes it between 2W and 4W faster than the Kudo helmet, as well as more comfortable for winter use.
Fizik says that it has aimed for a helmet shape and retention system that will fit a range of head shapes, with a height-adjustable dial adjuster that tunes the fit around the full circumference of the rider’s head, with an additional crown adjustment to further tailor the fit. There’s a sunglasses slot built in too.
There’s additional rotational impact protection in both helmets, in the form of the low profile Mips Air Node system, where the Mips sliding layer is built into the helmet’s padding. Fizik says that all its helmets have achieved a five star rating in Virginia Tech’s helmet lab’s testing.
Ship with a clip-in rear light

The Kudo and Kudo Aero helmets ship with a USB-C rechargeable 35-lumen rear light with constant and flashing modes, which can be snapped into the vents in place of the standard passive reflector. In solid mode, Fizik quotes a 90-minute battery life, which extends to 180 minutes in flashing mode. The light can be bought aftermarket too, priced at £29.99 / $29.99 / €29.00.
Fizik’s helmets are available in three sizes to fit heads from 52cm to 61cm, with the Kudo having claimed weights from 270g for the size S, 280g for the M and 310g for the L in the EU and the Kudo Aero 270g, 290g and 320g for the three sizes.
Both helmets are available in black or white, with the Kudo additionally offered in bronze and the Kudo Aero in silver. Both helmets are priced at £269.99 / $289.99 / €290.00.
