Silca Strip Chip promises one-stop-shop for waxing factory fresh chains
Silca has released its latest maintenance product in the form the Strip Chip, which claims to turn factory lubes into a wax coating. Silca says this is the ‘first ever in-wax chain degreaser’ and is cleaner, faster and better for the environment.
The Strip Chip has been launched alongside Silca’s Ultimate Chain Wax System, a one-stop kit with all the products needed for waxing your chain.
How does it work?

The Strip Chip uses a process called Oleogelation, traditionally used in the food industry. Silca says that it converts oils that would generally act as solvents, such as factory chain lube, into binders that connect with wax chain molecules. The Strip Chip replaces any white spirit or methylated alcohol needed to remove the factory grease, removing a step in the process of waxing a brand new chain.
To use, you add one square of the Strip Chip to Silca’s hot melt wax (it’s not specified whether it will work with other brands), and then add the new chain.
One stop pot

Silca has also released its Ultimate Chain Wax System, which includes all the accessories needed for chain waxing, including a hanger and chain coupler and, in Silca’s words, ‘looks more dialled than your ole crockpot setup’.
