How to watch Milan-San Remo 2024

Milan-San Remo is the first Monument of the season and called ‘La Primavera’ (The Spring Classic) due to its early positioning in the cycling calendar. This year’s edition will be the 115th, over a distance of 288km and take place on Saturday 16th March.

The 2024 Milan-San Remo will depart from Pavia and head south towards the coast. The peloton will once again tackle the Passo del Turchino before hitting the Tre Capi (Capo Mele, Capo Cervo and Capo Berta) in the final section of the race, followed by the Cipressa and Poggio di San Remo at the business end.

Last year’s edition was won by Mathieu van der Poel, who won for the first time in an historic season that included wins at Paris-Roubaix and the World Championships.

Eddy Merckx is the most successful rider, winning Milan-San Remo seven times. A women’s race was previously said to be in the works for 2023, but this has not come to fruition (despite no word on why not and whether it is still part of the plan, boo – at least we have Trofeo Alfredo Binda).

A stacked peloton of contenders will be taking to the start, including the defending champion Van der Poel who will be starting his season and Tadej Pogačar, who wants Monument number four.

If it’s not being shown in your country, you may be able to watch coverage using a VPN – Virtual Private Network – which allows users to mask their IP address and watch geo-blocked content, provided they don’t need to pay for a subscription. This is also helpful for watching paid-for coverage while travelling abroad in countries without access.

One such example is ExpressVPN, which is very well reviewed, has specific advice for watching cycling and costs £5.36 per month with three months free.
