Dwars door Vlaanderen 2024: Route, how to watch and everything you need to know
The women’s and men’s Dwars door Vlaanderen races will take place on Wednesday 27th March 2024 in Belgium.
Dwars door Vlaanderen was first held in 1945, with the inaugural edition won by Rik Van Steenbergen. It’s been part of the men’s WorldTour since 2017. The race has settled on Roeselare as its starting point since 2000 and finishes in Waregem.
A women’s race has been organised since 2012 and dominated by the Netherlands; the country has won nine of 11 editions to date, with Amy Pieters (three wins) most victorious. Its mid-week spot means it’s the last race on the calendar before the Tour of Flanders.
In 2023, Demi Vollering (SD Worx-Protime) won after a 10km solo breakaway ahead of Chiara Consonni (Team UAE ADQ) and Marianne Vos (Visma-Lease a Bike). In the men’s race, Christophe Laporte (Visma-Lease a Bike) also broke away but in the final 4km, time-trialling to victory with Oier Lazkano (Movistar) second and Neilson Powless (EF Education-EasyPost) third.
