In the Drops: Rapha Cottons collection, Velitos, D-Robe Beaufort Robe and Bob and Brad massage gun
The festive break is upon us, and with that I have been bestowed with the jolly duty of writing the most Christmassy In the Drops of them all.
Fear not though, for there are no sprouts in here, there is only cycling goodness and festive cheer.
This week we discovered why we ride slower in the cold and we diluted common winter cycling injuries so there’s no worries about getting old.
Perhaps it’s a product review you’d like to peruse, well how about a Dhb jacket or a pair of Shimano RC5 shoes.
We’ve also got jackets from Altura, Assos and Gore, go check out the review section for there are plenty more.
It’s been pretty grey and cold in the UK so if sunshine is what you need, could it be time to book the GiRodeo sportive?
Whatever the festivities may bring, I wish you health, happiness and lots of riding.
Rapha Cottons collection

Tis’ the season for snuggling up by the fire in warm cosy clothing, or is athleisure just trendy? I think it’s both.
Made from 100% organic cotton, the Rapha Cottons collection is the epitome of classic, comfy and cosy, aka perfect for a post-ride sofa lie down.
I rather enjoy this hoodie, but there are also T-shirts, sweatshirts and sweatpants to choose from. All sumptuously soft.

The collection is even more ideal if you are doing the Rapha Festive 500 as that will definitely require some sofa time.
I submitted a poor attempt last year, much to the disapproval of my family members who thanked torrential rain as I downed tools.
Imagine if we all lived in Australia and Christmas was sunshine, BBQs and bicycles. Alas it’s not, so I’ll be wearing this hoodie.

Velitos

I did a year abroad in Martinique in the Caribbean and fell in love with guava. Guava ice cream, guava jam, fresh guava, guava sweets, guava patties, guava jelly… you get this gist. Add in an environmentally conscious element, some sport and I’m dribbling.
Lo and behold, imagine my joy upon discovering Velitos, 100% natural blocks of guava goodness which pack 34g of carbs per block.

Each bar is wrapped in a biodegradable wrapper – Velitos says its dried leaf packaging ensures that the energy bar is firmly sealed and waterproof whilst also maintaining its biodegradable properties.
And it gets better… Velitos post the little squares using biodegradable cellulose packaging (a substitute for plastic) as well as biodegradable tape to ensure it stays safely sealed.

Bob and Brad Air 2 massage gun

Designed by physical therapists Bob and Brad (seems obvious I know), the Air 2 is a powerful mini massager thanks to its 12mm amplitude and comes with five attachments to help reach muscles in need of soothing.
It has a chuck-in-bag-and-go vibe to it thanks to its compact size and handy case. It’s also fully charged in two hours.

I’ve used many a massage gun, but I particularly like this one because it is small with a big attitude. If it were a dog it would be a chihuahua.

D-Robe Beaufort Robe

I know this might not scream cycling but that’s where you are wrong.
Hear me out.
Ever been stood on the side of a cyclocross race freezing? Ever finished a race and yearned for a soft wrap around blanket to swaddle you? Ever washed a bicycle in the biting wind? My point, exactly.

Made using a recycled polyester fleece inner and recycled nylon outer shell, the Beaufort Robe is ideal for wrapping up as warm as possible.
It has ample pockets, and I really mean ample, which makes it super-practical for stashing snacks, phones, multitools, slinkies, mice, whatever.
So long sideline chills.

What I’m into this week: Jokes

Christmas is the time for crackers and rubbish jokes. Cue the ‘aahs’ and the ‘uuuhhs’ as a relative you see once a year tells the same slightly inappropriate for the fifth year in a row.
So I thought, I’d spare everyone the pain and chuck a nice cycling themed one in the mix.
Why can’t a bicycle stand up by itself?
Because it’s two tired!
[Thank you, internet]
Happy Christmas to all.
