Vuelta a Burgos Féminas 2024: Route, how to watch, start list and everything you need to know
The Spanish streak in the UCI Women’s WorldTour calendar continues this week with the Vuelta a Burgos Féminas. Starting on Thursday 16th May, the Spanish race offers four stages through northern Spain, concluding on Sunday 19th May.
The Vuelta a Burgos Féminas is a young race, only becoming WorldTour in 2021. Since the race’s promotion, the Spanish challenge has given us a blockbuster list of winners including Anna van der Breggen, Juliette Labous and Demi Vollering. It was the latter who won last year, as she prepared for her Tour de France Femmes triumph last summer.
This year, the favourite is reigning champion Vollering. After wins at the Vuelta Femenina and the Itzulia Women, the SD Worx-Protime leader has been on stellar form in Spain. Vollering will be supported by podium contender, Marlen Reusser. Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig will make her return to racing after spending months in recovery from a crash in the Classics.

Vuelta a Burgos Féminas 2024: Route and stage profiles
Stage 1: Villagonzalo Pedernales – Burgos, 123km

The stage lassoes the city of Burgos, beginning in Villagonzo Pedernales in the outskirts. The profile is relatively simple, but the final approach to the line poses some difficult roundabouts to negotiate. Stay upright and in position and you could end up with the first purple leader’s jersey of the race.
Stage 2: Briviesca – Alto de Rosales, 123km

Rolling out from Briviesca, the second stage is tougher than the day before. The stage will ultimately be decided on the steep final climb of the Alto de Rosales. The climb is short but it’s not sweet, allowing the GC contenders a chance to stretch their legs.
Stage 3: Roa de Duero – Melgar de Fernamental, 122km

The third stage is a straight-forward stage for the sprinters. A couple of corners in the final kilometre could complicate affairs, however. For the oenologists out there, expect to see plenty of vineyards as we roll through the Ribera wine appellation.
Stage 4: Peñaranda de Duero – Canciosa de la Sierra, 122km

The final stage of the race, the most uphill stage of the lot. The major difficulty of the day, the Rozavientos climb will peak at 15km to go. After the difficulty, the peloton will take on a prolonged descent before one final kicker to the line in the village fo Canicosa de la Sierra.
