The best photos from the Tour of Britain Women 2024
The Tour of Britain Women 2024 took over this weekend with four days of intense racing across north Wales and England. The comeback of Britain’s biggest women’s race under a new guise saw another SD Worx-Protime display, continuing their winning streak in the UK after RideLondon.
World Champion Lotte Kopecky won the first two stages and took the final leader’s green jersey ahead of Great Britain’s Anna Henderson and Kopecky’s SD Worx teammate Christine Majerus. The last two stages were won by SD Worx sprinter Lorena Wiebes and Liv-AlUla-Jayco’s Ruby Roseman-Gannon, who just robbed Majerus in a photofinish.
Big time photographer Pete Goding was in the thick of the action, here’s a selection of his shots from this year’s Tour of Britain Women.
Stage 1: Welshpool – Llandudno

Stage 1 was far from simple with a hilly route through north Wales.

It’s like cycling through a postcard.

Into the valleys they go.

A select group of strong riders rode away, heading to the Welsh coastline with a couple of minutes advantage.

Letizia Paternoster thought she’d won it, but Kopecky’s smirk says it all – the Belgian knew it was closer than it looked, in fact she’d won it in a photofinish.
Stage 2: Wrexham – Wrexham

All aboard the Tour of Britain train. Start: Wrexham. Destination: Wrexham.

DSM-Firmenich-PostNL were very animated throughout the race.

Lotte Kopecky and Anna Henderson rode away over the famous Horseshoe Pass. The two gave each other a look, and locked in for the finale.

‘Alexa, define power.’

How about that? Two in two for the World Champion Lotte Kopecky.
Stage 3: Warrington – Warrington

Time for a calmer stage. The third day was a flat affair around Warrington to settle the GC nerves.

The peloton rolled through the northwest of England.

No time for mass though, there was a stage to be won.

SD Worx-ProTime were where they belong – at the head of the race.

Lorena Wiebes just had too much power for the others as they grimaced in her wake. Wiebes makes it look all too easy.
Stage 4: Manchester VeloPark – Leigh

No matter where she goes, the rainbow jersey will always stand out.

Now this looks like England.

A group of favourites distilled as the race snaked around Manchester.

It wouldn’t be the Tour of Britain without rain, right? Proper British Racing.

Christine Majerus [left] thinks she’s town it. Kopecky [right], her teammate, sacrificed her own chances only for the Luxembourgish rider to be pipped on the line by Ruby Roseman-Gannon [centre].
