Tour de Suisse Women 2024: Route, how to watch, start list and everything you need to know

The women’s Tour de Suisse is one of the final races before the two biggest stage races on the women’s calendar – the Giro Donne and Tour de France Femmes. It begins on Saturday 15th June in Villars-sur-Ollon and finishes in Champagne on Tuesday 18th June, with four hard stages comprising hillier, mountain days and one time-trial.

In contrast to the easterly 2023 edition won by Marlen Reusser (SD Worx-Protime) ahead of teammate Demi Vollering, this year’s route sticks to the northwest of Switzerland with only four total start/finish towns out of a possible eight, reducing transitions between stages while still allowing for tough racing.

Women’s Tour de Suisse 2024: The route

The women’s peloton won’t get to see much of one of the world’s most stunning cycling countries (women’s route in the turquoise), but a lot has been packed into four stages to hopefully keep entertainment value high.

Women’s Tour de Suisse 2024: Stage-by-stage preview

Stage 1: Saturday 15th June, Villars-sur-Ollon – Villars-sur-Ollon, 58.6km

The opening stage for the women’s Tour de Suisse is a short one but it’s climbing from the off, the peloton immediately scaling the Category 2 Col de la Croix.

They will descend into Aigle, the home of the UCI, to the next climb and begin heading upwards again from the 40km mark, Stage 1 producing the first summit finish of the race in the Category 1 Villars.

Stage 2: Sunday 16th June, Aigle/Le Centre Mondial du Cyclisme UCI – Villars-sur-Ollon, 15.7km, ITT

Stage 2 is a 15.7km individual time-trial heading out from the World Cycling Centre in Aigle. It’s flat for the first 5km until the parcours start to rise for a tough climb to Villars-sur-Ollon. With over 850m of elevation in about 10km, it’s going to be for the climbers not the TT specialists.

Stage 3: Monday 17th June, Vevey – Champagne, 125.6km

There’s nowhere to hide at the beginning of Stage 3, riders going straight into the Category 2 Chemin des Curnilles. That’s is followed by a couple of Category 3 climbs until the last hill to conquer in the Category 2 Vaugondry before a flattish run-in.

Stage 4: Tuesday 18th June: Champagne – Champagne, 127.5km

The final stage will see the peloton complete a loop around Champagne, heading over the Category 2 Col des Etroits and Vue des Alpes climbs before a flat finale.

How to watch the women’s Tour de Suisse 2024

Sam Buchli

The Tour de Suisse will be shown on Discovery+ in the UK and Europe. There’s no Eurosport TV coverage. In the US, it will be on FloBikes.

If it’s not being shown in your country, you may be able to watch coverage using a VPN – Virtual Private Network – which allows users to mask their IP address and watch geo-blocked content, provided they don’t need to pay for a subscription. This is also helpful for watching paid-for coverage while travelling abroad in countries without access.

One such example is ExpressVPN, which is very well reviewed, has specific advice for watching cycling and costs £5.36 per month with three months free. Other options include NordVPN, Surfshark and Kapersky.
