The best photos from the men’s Olympic Road Race Paris 2024
Paris went above and beyond to deliver a pair of incredible road races at this year’s Olympics. The finishing circuit headlined by the Montmartre cobbled climb and loop around the Sacré-Cœur was stunning with excellent crowds and amazing racing.
While the French capital is pro cycling’s most iconic backdrop, the route showed off a new side to the city, and proved that maybe Paris doesn’t have to be a procession at the Tour de France.
Photographer Zac Williams – who recently brought us a collection of the best photos from the Tour de France – was in the thick of the action all weekend, here are some of his best shots from the men’s race, including the money shot. Check out his gallery from the women’s race here.

The early breaks showed the real depth of the field this time around, and eventually launched Ireland’s move.

After the legs were softened outside the city, riders made their way into the pomp of Paris.

The crowds were well and truly out on every part of the circuit.

Nowhere more-so than on the cobbled streets of Montmartre.

Several deep in all places and flags of all colours. Imagine living in one of those apartments, what a view.

More than several deep outside the Sacré-Cœur.

That’s a lot of people.

Ben Healy went early, because that’s what he does. He had Alexey Lutsenko for company for a while.

‘Go home buddy, I work alone,’ or something along those lines.

Who needs the Champs-Élysées?

These two were made for each other.

It takes a minute to realise Valentin Madouas is in this picture.

He did his best to hide, but Remco Evenepoel was more like Remco Inevitable.

At least he showed some signs of strain.

But once he was gone you knew that was it, even if his tyre tried to get the nerves going.

That’s the shot. Chapeau all involved.

The finish photos are so romantic, this one’s giving ‘let’s run away together’.

It very much seemed like Christophe Laporte didn’t know how many people were ahead of him.

Allons enfants de la patrie and all that.

I like to think Madouas has just come back around and is saying, ‘Look Christophe, it’s the Eiffel Tower.’

A great day to be a teammate of Julian Alaphilippe.

Golden boy.

Tough day in the saddle but it was a good show from the British team with Fred Wright animated one of the race’s key moves and Tom Pidcock finishing highest in 13th.

Didn’t realise cricket was in for this Olympics.

Undefeated. Worlds next?
