How to watch and live stream the Vuelta a España 2024
The 79th Vuelta a España starts on Saturday 17th August in Lisbon, Portugal with a 12km time-trial. The route heads to the south of Spain before a lengthy transfer to the north and includes eight mountain stages, five hilly stages and just the one flat stage.
The three weeks culminate with an individual time-trial in Madrid. The race will cover 3,265km of racing with the Stage 14 the longest at 200.5km.
Headlining the start list is defending champion Sepp Kuss of Visma-Lease a Bike who led home a 1-2-3 for the team last year ahead of Jonas Vingegaard and Primož Roglič. Their eternal rivals of UAE Team Emirates will be looking to stop them this year, however, bringing the powerful duo of João Almeida and Adam Yates to fight for the maillot rojo. Now at Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe, Roglič is also back and is looking for a fourth Vuelta a España victory, with other riders such as Carlos Rodríguez (Ineos Grenadiers) and Richard Carapaz (EF Education-EasyPost) also in the mix.
It promises to be a fantastic final three weeks of Grand Tour racing in 2024, with appearances from the Lagos de Covadonga on Stage 16 and Picón Blanco on Stage 20 among the headline climbs on the menu.
