Women’s Tour Down Under 2025: Route, how to watch and start list
Road racing is back, and pro cycling is on the road again. The 2025 season gets underway with the Women’s Tour Down Under, where fans will get to see refreshed riders and kits. The race, now in its eighth official edition, begins on Friday 17th January in Brighton and consists of three stages, finishing on Sunday 19th January in Stirling.
Last year’s Women’s Tour Down under was won by Australian Sarah Gigante by 20 seconds. Gigante described it as her ‘best moment on the bike‘ but will not be back to defend her title. Third place finisher Neve Bradbury will take to the start line alongside riders including Tour de France Femmes polka dot jersey Justine Ghekiere and Chloé Dygert as well as a host of the peloton’s Australians and New Zealanders.

Women’s Tour Down Under 2025 route

The Women’s Tour Down Under sticks mainly to the Adelaide area in South Australia, so many of the locations in the 2025 edition will be familiar to previous viewers of both the women’s and men’s race.
A one-day race will take place in Adelaide a week after the finish of the three-day Women’s WorldTour race, part of a wider ten-day festival of cycling that also includes the Men’s Tour Down Under.
Women’s Tour Down Under 2025: Stage-by-stage preview
Stage 1: Friday 17th January, Brighton – Aldinga, 101.9km

The first sprint of the race comes 35km into the day, with the 9.6km Heatherdale Hill at the halfway mark towards Aldinga Beach. A sprint finish with potential for crosswinds awaits.
Stage 2: Saturday 18th January, Unley – Willunga Hill, 115km

Stage 2 gets tougher with the peloton immediately climbing towards the Windy Point climb. The day ends with a double ascent up the legendary Willunga Hill, which was the finishing point of last year’s race and saw Gigante put in a blistering attack to win.
Stage 3: Sunday 19th January, Stirling – Stirling, 105.9km

Although day two will see some big gaps forming, it should all come down to Stage 3, which involves five laps of a circuit in Stirling that takes in the ascent of Stirling Climb at the end of each lap. It’s therefore an uphill finish, and a repeat of the end of last year’s Stage 2, which saw Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig take the win on the climb.
