How to watch the Giro d’Italia 2024
It’s finally Grand Tour season. The first three-weeker for the men is the Giro d’Italia, which starts on Saturday 4th May and runs until Sunday 26th May. The race will be shown live from start to finish on Discovery+ throughout Europe and the UK from Stage 1 all the way to Stage 21.
The 2024 Giro d’Italia opens with a hilly road stage around the former Italian capital, Turin. From here, the racing will make its way down the leg of Italy before circling back northwards for the final week’s mountain showdown in the Alps and Dolomites. These stages will feature iconic climbs such as the Passo dello Stelvio (Stage 16) and a double ascent of Monte Grappa (Stage 20), before the racing concludes with a processional stage around the familiar Italian capital, Rome.
Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates) starts the Giro as the overwhelming favourite. Other contenders for the maglia rosa include Ineos Grenadiers’ Geraint Thomas, Ben O’Connor of Decathlon-AG2R and Romain Bardet of DSM-Firmenich-PostNL. There is a stacked field of sprinters on show at the Giro, with Tim Merlier, Caleb Ewan, Fabio Jakobsen, Olav Kooij, Jonathan Milan and Christophe Laporte on the startlist.
How to watch the 2024 Giro d’Italia

The Giro d’Italia 2024 will be available to watch in the UK and throughout Europe on Eurosport and Discovery+ for £6.99 per month with the basic package, which includes cycling and all other Eurosport programmes. All 21 stages will also be shown live in the UK on the TV channel Eurosport 1. This will include Eurosport’s ‘The Breakaway’ analysis show that will air before and after each stage.
In the United States, the racing will be available on HBO Max and BeIn Sport. FloSports will provide the English-language coverage over in Canada, however. For Australians, the Giro will be shown live on Eurosport and Discovery+ as well as on SBS.
If it’s not being shown in your country, you may be able to watch coverage using a VPN – Virtual Private Network – which allows users to mask their IP address and watch geo-blocked content, provided they don’t need to pay for a subscription. This is also helpful for watching paid-for coverage while abroad in countries without access.
One such example is ExpressVPN, which is very well reviewed, helps users to find a way to watch cycling without having to pay for broadcasters services, and costs £5.36 per month, with three months free. Other options include NordVPN, Surfshark and Kapersky.
